Ethyl acrylate is also known as acrylic acid ethyl ester and ethyl 2-propenoate. It is commonly used in the production of polymers, adhesives, and coatings. It is also used in the manufacture of plastics and synthetic rubber.
When exposed to ethyl acrylate, rubber can experience swelling, cracking, and embrittlement. Additionally, it can cause the rubber to become more brittle and weak, leading to premature failure. It can also cause the rubber to become more susceptible to ozone and UV radiation, leading to further degradation over time. The rubber may also be subject to softening, discoloration, and a decrease in tensile strength.
