Ethyl acetoacetate is also known as 3-oxobutanoic acid ethyl ester, 3-oxobutanoate ethylester, and 3-oxobutyrate ethylester. It is commonly used as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and perfumes. It is also used as a flavoring agent in food and beverages.
When exposed to ethyl acetoacetate, rubber can experience swelling, cracking, and embrittlement. It can also cause the rubber to become more susceptible to ozone and UV radiation, leading to further degradation over time. Additionally, ethyl acetoacetate can cause the rubber to become more brittle and weak, leading to premature failure.
