ETHYL ACETATE Resistant O-Rings and Seals
Ethyl acetate is also known as ethyl ethanoate, acetic acid ethyl ester, and ethyl ethanoate. It is a common solvent used in the production of lacquers, paint, and varnishes. It is also used in printing inks, adhesives, and as a flavoring agent in food and beverages.
When exposed to ethyl acetate, rubber can experience swelling, cracking, and embrittlement. It can also cause the rubber to become more susceptible to ozone and UV radiation, leading to further degradation over time. Additionally, ethyl acetate can cause the rubber to become more brittle and weak, leading to premature failure.
