Esso WS2812, also known as ATF Type A, is a light-duty automatic transmission fluid. It is used primarily in automatic transmissions, transfer cases, and power steering systems of vehicles. Common uses include lubrication of gear trains, hydraulic systems, and torque converters.
When rubber is exposed to Esso WS2812, it can cause swelling, cracking, and premature failure of the rubber material. The most common failures are caused by the fluid seeping into the rubber and breaking down the properties, causing cracking and a loss of elasticity. In extreme cases, the rubber can become brittle and crack under normal use. Additionally, the fluid can cause softening of the rubber, leading to a loss of shape retention, which can affect the seal's ability to hold a pressure or vacuum.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
