DOWTHERM A is a hydrocarbon-based heat transfer fluid also known as mineral oil, white oil, or petroleum ether. It is commonly used in closed loop heating and cooling systems as well as in thermoelectric cooling applications. When rubber components are exposed to DOWTHERM A, the rubber can become brittle, hard, and break down due to lack of flexibility. This can cause seals to fail, leading to leakage of the fluid and possibly equipment damage.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
