Dow Corning F061 Fluid, also known as Hexamethyldisiloxane, is a volatile silicone fluid that is used in a variety of industries such as cosmetics, electronics, and automotive. It is most commonly used as a solvent and a lubricant due to its low surface tension and low viscosity.
When rubber is exposed to Dow Corning F061 Fluid, common types of failures can include swelling, softening, and cracking due to the solvent-like properties of the fluid. Additionally, the lubricant-like properties of the fluid can cause rubber seals to become loose and/or leaky, leading to a loss of product integrity and safety.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
