Dioctyl Phthalate, also known as DEHP, is a widely used plasticizer in the production of plastics, rubbers, and adhesives. It is commonly used in the automotive, medical, and electronics industries. The most common failure when rubber is exposed to Dioctyl Phthalate is swelling and softening of the rubber. This is caused by the plasticizer's ability to dissolve in the rubber and soften it. In addition, the rubber may become brittle and crack due to the chemical's strong acidity.
