Dinitrochlorobenzene, also known as DNCB, is an organic compound used in the production of herbicides, dyes, and other chemicals. It is also used as a solvent and fumigant in industrial applications.
When exposed to DNCB, rubber can suffer from a number of issues. Swelling and softening of the rubber can occur, as well as discoloration, cracking, and embrittlement. Additionally, the rubber can absorb the DNCB, leading to a decrease in mechanical properties. Long-term exposure to DNCB can also lead to deposits on the rubber which can further reduce the rubber’s mechanical properties. It is important to select a rubber compound that is compatible with DNCB to avoid these issues.
