DIisopropylidene acetone, also known as diisopropyl ketone and 2,6-dimethyl-4-heptanone, is a colorless, volatile liquid with a characteristic odor. It is a versatile chemical with a wide range of uses, from cleaning solvents and flavoring agents to chemical intermediates for the manufacture of other chemicals such as polymers and dyes. It is also used extensively in the pharmaceutical industry as a solvent for pharmaceuticals and as a flavoring agent in food products.
When rubber is exposed to diisopropylidene acetone, the rubber material can become brittle and cracked due to the chemical's strong solvating properties. The chemical's solvating properties can also cause the rubber material to swell and degrade, leading to loss of strength, elasticity, and flexibility. In extreme cases, the rubber material can become completely degraded and useless.
Markez ® high performance perfluoroelastomer O-Rings (FFKM) offer unmatched value for demanding sealing applications. Produced from nearly identical ingredients as higher priced brands, Markez ® compounds are used for high temperature o-rings and high pressure o-rings and chemical resistant o-rings that deliver similar performance to major FFKM brands, with temperature resistance up to 625oF, at a significantly lower cost. Our proprietary processing allow us to supply seals under an inch in size more efficiently. Introduced exclusively to existing customers over 15 years ago, we now have the experience and capacity to offer Markez ® high temperature o-rings and high pressure o-rings to the world.
