Diethylene glycol butyl ether, also known as DEGBE, is an organic compound used mainly as a solvent for paints and coatings, as well as for cleaning and degreasing of metal surfaces. DEGBE is also used in the production of agricultural chemicals, dyes and inks, and as a component of hydraulic fluids.
When rubber components are exposed to DEGBE, they can become brittle and susceptible to cracking, leading to a decrease in sealing capabilities. Additionally, the rubber can become subject to swelling, cracking, and hardening, which can lead to a decrease in flexibility and tear strength. Over time, the rubber can also become discolored and brittle due to the presence of DEGBE, resulting in a decrease in reliability.
EPDM o-rings, or ethylene propylene o-rings, are a family of synthetic elastomers with lower cost steam and chemical resistance, particularly for applications involving solvents, acids and other mild chemicals. Marco Rubber has the world’s largest inventory network of EPDM o-rings and made on demand custom manufacturing often without tooling fees, so the EPDM o-rings you need are always available. Whether it’s for water systems, braking systems, medical, pharmaceutical, food or dairy use, you can count on Marco Rubber to deliver your o-rings fast and efficiently.
