Dieldrin, also known as Aldrin or Heptachlorocyclohexane, is an organochlorine insecticide used primarily for pest control in agriculture. Other common uses for Dieldrin include the control of mosquitoes, cockroaches, and fire ants.
Common types of rubber failure when exposed to Dieldrin include cracking, swelling, discoloration, and loss of physical properties due to the insecticide's corrosive and volatile nature. Additionally, due to its strong lipophilic nature, Dieldrin can easily penetrate rubber, causing it to become brittle and fragile. Furthermore, the rubber may suffer accelerated aging due to the breakdown of its chemical bonds.
