Dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane is also known as dichloroethane, ethylene dichloride, and EDC. It is a versatile solvent used in a variety of industrial applications, such as in the production of other chemicals, in the production of paints and coatings, and in the production of rubber and plastic products.
When rubber or plastic is exposed to dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane, it can cause swelling, deformation, discoloration, cracking, or embrittlement. In some cases, the material may become brittle and crack or break, leading to a failure. In other cases, the material may swell, leading to a failure due to a loss of elasticity or flexibility. In rare cases, the material may undergo a chemical reaction, leading to a breakdown of the material.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
