DIBROMOETHANE Resistant O-Rings and Seals
DIBROMOETHANE is also known as ethylene dibromide or EDB. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor and is used as a fumigant, insecticide, and a fuel additive. When rubber is exposed to DIBROMOETHANE, it can cause swelling, cracking, and embrittlement due to the compound's ability to dissolve in the rubber and disrupt the polymer chains. Additionally, these compounds can cause the rubber to become brittle and crack due to the production of hardening agents. Prolonged exposure to DIBROMOETHANE can also lead to accelerated oxidation and degradation of the rubber.
