Cyclopentadiene is also known as pentamethylene, 1,3-cyclopentadiene, and 2,4-cyclopentadiene. It is a cyclic hydrocarbon that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of polymers, pharmaceuticals, and other organic compounds. Common uses for cyclopentadiene include rubber production, the synthesis of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins, and the manufacturing of adhesives.
When exposed to cyclopentadiene, rubber materials may experience swelling, hardening, cracking, softening, and embrittlement. Swelling may occur as a result of the cyclic hydrocarbon's reactive properties, which can cause the rubber material to become soft, weak, and brittle. Additionally, cyclopentadiene can cause the rubber to harden, leading to a decrease in the material's flexibility and an increase in brittleness. Cracking may also occur as a result of the chemical's reaction with the rubber material.
Markez ® high performance perfluoroelastomer O-Rings (FFKM) offer unmatched value for demanding sealing applications. Produced from nearly identical ingredients as higher priced brands, Markez ® compounds are used for high temperature o-rings and high pressure o-rings and chemical resistant o-rings that deliver similar performance to major FFKM brands, with temperature resistance up to 625oF, at a significantly lower cost. Our proprietary processing allow us to supply seals under an inch in size more efficiently. Introduced exclusively to existing customers over 15 years ago, we now have the experience and capacity to offer Markez ® high temperature o-rings and high pressure o-rings to the world.
