COBALTOUS CHLORIDE Resistant O-Rings and Seals

Cobaltous chloride, also known as cobalt (II) chloride, is a blue-green crystalline solid that is used in a variety of industrial processes. It is commonly used as a catalyst in organic synthesis and a coagulant in water treatment. In rubber production, cobaltous chloride is used as an accelerator, helping to speed up the vulcanization process.

When rubber is exposed to cobaltous chloride, it can cause a variety of failures. The most common is the formation of cracks, which can weaken the rubber and lead to failure. Other forms of failure can include discoloration, embrittlement, and swelling. Additionally, cobaltous chloride can react with some rubber materials to form corrosive compounds, further weakening the rubber and causing permanent damage.
