Clophen is an organochlorine pesticide and insecticide that is used as an agricultural insecticide, an acaricide, and an insect repellent. It is also known as chlorophen, dicophane, dimethyl 2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate, DDVP, and dimethyl-2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate.
Common rubber materials that are exposed to Clophen can be degraded by the chemical. This can manifest in swelling, cracking, and hardening of the material. There is also a risk of the rubber material shrinking, becoming brittle and/or discolored, and/or losing its elasticity. In extreme cases, exposure to Clophen can cause complete failure of the rubber material, rendering it useless.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
