Cinnamic Aldehyde is also known as cinnamaldehyde and is primarily used in perfumes and as a flavoring ingredient for food and beverages. The chemical is also used in the manufacture of plastics and in some pharmaceuticals.
When rubber is exposed to cinnamic aldehyde, the rubber can become brittle and crack due to the chemical's corrosive properties. The rubber can also swell and distort, leading to poor sealing performance and potential failure of the rubber part. Additionally, Cinnamic Aldehyde can cause premature degradation of the rubber due to accelerated oxidation. The chemical can also cause surface damage to the rubber due to its reactive nature.
