Chlorobenzaldehyde, also known as o-chlorobenzaldehyde, is an aromatic aldehyde used in the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, fungicides, and fragrances. It is also used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals such as chloroanilines and chlorophenols. Common uses of chlorobenzaldehyde include photography, tanning, dyeing, and manufacturing of certain medicines.
When rubber is exposed to chlorobenzaldehyde, it can cause accelerated deterioration of the rubber material. This can manifest as cracking, discoloration, brittleness, swelling, and loss of tensile strength. These failures can be exacerbated by exposure to high temperatures or humid conditions, as well as prolonged exposure to the chemical.
Fluorosilicone o-rings are a hybrid of silicone and FKM resulting in great jet fuel resistance with high and low temperature performance. Also widely used in semiconductor Ashing equipment with strong resistance to oxygen plasma, FVMQ fluorosilicone o-rings also feature excellent flexibility, compression resistance, aging and sunlight resistance, and overall wide range of basic chemical resistance.
