Chlorine, wet gas is also known as chlorine gas and is commonly used in water treatment and bleaching applications. Chlorine gas is also used in the production of plastics, solvents, and pesticides.
Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to chlorine, wet gas include swelling, cracking, and weakening of the rubber due to its corrosive nature. Additionally, chlorine gas is highly reactive and can cause rubber to degrade and become brittle over time.
