CELLOSOLVE acetate, also known as ethylene glycol monobutyl ether acetate, is commonly used as a solvent in the paint and coatings industry, as well as in printing inks and adhesives. It is also used as a coupling agent in agricultural chemicals and as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals.
When rubber is exposed to CELLOSOLVE acetate, the major failure mode is swelling and softening of the rubber. This can result in loss of structural integrity, leading to cracking, splitting, and other forms of physical failure. In addition, the rubber may become brittle and discolored, leading to a decrease in its performance characteristics.
