Casein is a protein found in milk and other dairy products. It is used in a variety of industries including food production, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and plastics. Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to casein include cracking, swelling, and loss of strength due to the casein’s ability to accelerate the degradation of the rubber’s molecular structure. Additionally, rubber exposed to casein may become brittle and prone to cracking due to its reactivity.
