Cane sugar liquors, also known as molasses, are a by-product of the sugar refining industry and are used in a variety of applications, including food processing, pharmaceuticals, and animal feed. Molasses is also used in the production of ethanol, which is used as a fuel source.
When rubber materials are exposed to cane sugar liquors, they can suffer from accelerated aging, swelling, and discoloration, as well as decreased elasticity leading to seal failure. The rubber can also become brittle, resulting in cracking and decreased flexibility. Additionally, plasticizers can leach out of the rubber, leading to a decrease in overall performance.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
