Calcium thiosulfate, also known as calcium bisulfite, is a chemical compound commonly used in the textile, paper, and food industries. It is used as a bleaching agent, disinfectant, and preservative. It is also used as a preservative in some cosmetics and medicines.
When rubber is exposed to calcium thiosulfate, it can cause mechanical and chemical degradation. This can lead to a decrease in mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and elongation, as well as an increased susceptibility to environmental factors. Additionally, the chemical reaction between the rubber and the calcium thiosulfate can cause swelling, cracking, and discoloration of the rubber.
