Calcium gluconate is also known as gluconic acid calcium salt and is commonly used as a food additive and in the manufacturing of calcium supplements. It is also used in various industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and metalworking.
When rubber is exposed to calcium gluconate, there is potential for a number of common types of failure. These include hardening and cracking of the rubber, the formation of a sticky residue, and discoloration. In extreme cases, the rubber may become brittle and break apart. Additionally, the rubber may become less resistant to chemicals, leading to further deterioration.
