Beet sugar liquids, also known as liquid beet sugar, beet molasses and molasses, is a by-product of the sugar refining process. It is commonly used in food production, animal feed and biofuel production. When rubber is exposed to beet sugar liquids, the most common type of failure is swelling and softening. This is due to the high sugar content which can cause rubber to become more pliable and expand. Additionally, the acidity of the liquid can cause rubber to become brittle and break down over time. To prevent these types of failures, it is important to use rubber that is designed for food and beverage contact, such as silicone or polyurethane.
