AN0006 is also known as Acetone and is a colorless, volatile, flammable liquid. It is commonly used as a solvent in the pharmaceutical, textile and coating industries. In addition, it is used to manufacture plastics, fibers and other industrial chemicals.
When rubber is exposed to Acetone, the rubber material can become brittle and eventually crack. The rubber will also swell due to the chemical's solubility, reducing its ability to act as a seal. The solubility of Acetone can also cause it to penetrate through the rubber, leading to accelerated degradation.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
