Amyl Propionate, also known as 4-Methylpentyl propionate, is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a fruity odor. It is primarily used as a fragrance ingredient in cosmetics, personal care products, and cleaning products. It is also used as a flavoring agent in food and beverages.
When rubber is exposed to Amyl Propionate, it can cause the rubber to swell, degrade, harden, and crack. In extreme cases, the rubber can become brittle and break apart. Additionally, long-term exposure to the chemical can cause the rubber to develop a permanent odor.
