Amyl Phenol is also known as phenol-2-methyl butyrate, and is a fragrant chemical compound that is used in the production of dyes, plastics and pharmaceuticals. When rubber material is exposed to Amyl Phenol, it can cause softening and loss of mechanical properties, leading to cracking and loss of elasticity. The chemical can also cause discoloration and embrittlement of the rubber material, leading to structural failures or premature wear.
