Ammonium Chloride, also known as Sal Ammoniac or Ammonium Muriate, is an inorganic compound used as a fertilizer, food additive, and an electrolyte for industrial processes. It is also used as an additive for tobacco products, leather tanning, and it can be found in medicines, textiles, and fire extinguishers. Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to this chemical include swelling, cracking, and discoloration due to the breakdown of the rubber's molecular structure. Ammonium Chloride is highly corrosive and reactive, so any rubber exposed to it must be specially formulated to resist its effects.
Fluorosilicone o-rings are a hybrid of silicone and FKM resulting in great jet fuel resistance with high and low temperature performance. Also widely used in semiconductor Ashing equipment with strong resistance to oxygen plasma, FVMQ fluorosilicone o-rings also feature excellent flexibility, compression resistance, aging and sunlight resistance, and overall wide range of basic chemical resistance.
