Aluminum hydroxide is also known as aluminum hydrate, aluminic acid, hydrated alumina, and hydrated aluminum oxide. It is commonly used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, as an anti-caking agent, a buffering agent, and as an additive in food production.
Rubber materials exposed to aluminum hydroxide can suffer from accelerated aging due to oxidation, leading to cracking, brittleness, and loss of elasticity. If not sufficiently cleaned off after exposure, aluminum hydroxide can also cause sticking or adhesion problems on rubber surfaces. Additionally, rubber exposed to aluminum hydroxide may experience discoloration or staining.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
