Aluminum bromide is also known as bromoaluminate and is commonly used as a catalyst in manufacturing processes, such as the production of polymers, dyes, and perfumes. It is also used in semiconductor production and as a reagent in chemical synthesis.
When rubber is exposed to aluminum bromide, it can cause hardening, embrittlement, and cracking of the rubber due to the corrosive nature of the chemical. In addition, it can cause discoloration and fading of the rubber, resulting in a decrease in the material’s lifespan.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
