ALKYL CHLORIDE Resistant O-Rings and Seals

Alkyl Chloride is also known as Chlorinated Alkanes and Chlorinated Hydrocarbons. It is commonly used as a solvent in dry cleaning and degreasing applications, as well as in paint, printing ink and adhesives. It is also used as a fuel additive and as an intermediate in the production of rubber.

Rubber is susceptible to attack from Alkyl Chloride, which can cause the rubber to swell and soften. Alkyl Chloride can also cause cross-linking of the rubber molecules, making the rubber stiff and brittle. Additionally, Alkyl Chloride can cause corrosion of metal components in contact with the rubber. Over time, the rubber's physical properties can decrease significantly, and if left unchecked, the rubber can become brittle and prone to cracking or splitting.
