AEROZENE 50 is a liquid fuel blend composed of 50% hydrazine and 50% unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH). It is a widely used rocket fuel and is used in both military and commercial applications. Its primary use is as a propellant for thrusters and is also used as a monopropellant for attitude control systems.
When rubber is exposed to AEROZENE 50, its performance can be affected due to the extreme reactivity of the fuel blend. Hydrazine is highly corrosive and causes rubber to become brittle over time. UDMH is an oxidizer and can cause rubber to degrade due to oxidation. In addition, both chemicals can cause swelling and discoloration of rubber, leading to cracking and failure over time.
EPDM o-rings, or ethylene propylene o-rings, are a family of synthetic elastomers with lower cost steam and chemical resistance, particularly for applications involving solvents, acids and other mild chemicals. Marco Rubber has the world’s largest inventory network of EPDM o-rings and made on demand custom manufacturing often without tooling fees, so the EPDM o-rings you need are always available. Whether it’s for water systems, braking systems, medical, pharmaceutical, food or dairy use, you can count on Marco Rubber to deliver your o-rings fast and efficiently.
