Acrylic acid ethyl ester, also known as ethyl acrylate, is a clear, colorless, and flammable liquid with a pleasant odor. It is used as a monomer in the production of polymers, copolymers, and resins. It is also used to produce paints, adhesives, coatings, and sealants.
When rubber is exposed to acrylic acid ethyl ester, the rubber may become brittle and crack due to the chemical's strong solvent properties. Additionally, the chemical's corrosive nature can lead to a decrease in the rubber's mechanical properties, resulting in decreased resistance to wear and tear, increased risk of fatigue failure, and decreased elasticity.
