ACETIC ACID, GLACIAL Resistant O-Rings and Seals

Acetic Acid, also known as Glacial Acetic Acid, is a colorless, corrosive liquid with a pungent odor. It is widely used in the production of various products such as plastics, rubber, dyes, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides. It is also used in food preservation and is an essential ingredient in many household cleaners and solvents.

When rubber is exposed to Acetic Acid, the rubber may become brittle and crack due to the acid's corrosive properties. The rubber may also swell, causing it to become deformed and lose its elasticity. Additionally, the acid may cause the rubber to become discolored due to chemical reactions with the rubber's polymer components.

Silicone (VMQ, SIL)

Silicone o-rings are excellent seal materials for high temperatures in static environments. Typically, silicone o-rings show outstanding flex and fatigue life, strong ozone and UV radiation resistance, and physiologically neutral and insulating properties. Silicone o-rings can be synthesized with a wide variety of properties and compositions, allowing for great flexibility in performance.
