Step 1: Consultation

An in-depth consultation helps us get to the root of your application's challenges. We'll start by looking at the application conditions and, if already in place, a drawing or sample of the current seal. Then, we'll look at the following:

• Type of material in use
• Size of the seal
• Function of the seal
• Pressure applied to the seal
• Decompression
• Temperature
• Chemical exposure
• Dynamic or static application
• Other pertinent factors that indicate potential seal design flaws

To make the most of this consultation, we will communicate over email, phone, video call, or a physical visit to your operation if warranted. The most important thing is that we get you the right answer quickly.

Step 2: Identify the Problem

We will put our extensive knowledge, expertise, and technology to work for you. If you have a physical prototype, we will test your current scenario to determine the ultimate factors impacting your seal. If you have a conceptual design, we can identify potential problems.

Our sealing experts are dedicated to understanding seals through and through so you don't have to. We know exactly where to look to determine hidden problems that cause headaches for so many plant managers and engineers.

Step 3: Engineer The Solution

After determining what is causing the problem, we engineer your custom molded rubber solution. For example, we once worked with a customer using a standard size -470 in a 75-durometer FKM. The o-ring would fail and leave fragments in their piping system. This caused expensive shutdowns and downtime.

Our team reviewed the hardware dimensions and determined the hidden problem. The o-ring was incorrectly sized and under high pressure with rapid decompression. This caused it to be overstretched, which degraded the seal.

To resolve the problem, we engineered a properly sized o-ring in a different material. We used our high-pressure and explosive decompression resistant V1090 FKM compound, which is highly durable and designed to withstand high-pressure applications.

This better-suited size and material prevented seal failures, minimized downtime, and decreased expenses. In response, the customer is reviewing other seals and proactively changing them to our V1090 compound.

Step 4: Test the Solution

A solution only works if it withstands rigorous testing. As a certified ISO 9001:2015 facility, we take this quality control step seriously. We achieved our certification through a dedication to quality management, continuous improvements, adaptive and innovative leadership, and evidence-based decision-making. We take this very seriously and have woven these principles into the fabric of our organization.

This, of course, includes our testing process for custom molded rubber parts and seals.

We use technology and physical production to test the seal in your application's setting. When we develop a custom molded rubber solution, it is designed to last. Even if the application is demanding, our custom products come with the Marco seal of approval.

Step 5: Implement the Solution

Once the solution has been thoroughly tested, we implement it at your plant. We offer comprehensive post-market support, as well.

This is by far our favorite part of the process - and our customers' too! Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a process finally come together with ease. Another bonus? Months later, hearing from clients that the seal is still in place and working well.
