Description
Both materials are well suited for use in the -35 to 125°C range. Fluorosilicone has an advantage in lower temperatures and Fluorosilicone has an advantage in higher temperatures. Marco offers specific compound formulations extending these ranges even futher as can be seen in the following compound comparison chart. When comparing these materials with respect to electrical current resistance, Fluorosilicone has a significant advantage. The differences in compression set resistence show that Buna-N has a slight advantage. Additionally, Buna-N has a slight advantage when considering wear resistance. Also, Fluorosilicone has a slight advantage when comparing heat stability. Furthermore, Buna-N has a slight advantage when comparing short term resilience. Finally, Buna-N has a significant advantage when evaluating differences in permeation resilience. Both materials are resistant to common fuels, vegetable oils, diluted alkalies and silicone oils, with Fluorosilicone having specific resistences to ozone, compression set, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, aging, weathering and sunlight, oxidizing chemicals, animal oils, chlorinated solvents, diester oils, aliphatic fluorocarbons, aromatic fluorocarbons, toluene, benzene, jet fuels, phosphate esters, dry heat, wide temperature range, ammonia, some acids and some petroleum oils. Buna-N has specific resistence to acids, solvents, mineral oils, greases, aliphatic hydrocarbons, hydraulic fluids, water, petroleum oils, ethylene glycol fluids, di-ester lubricants and alcohols.
