Sodium Hydroxide Pellets, also known as Caustic Soda, Lye, or Soda Ash, is an alkaline compound commonly used in many industries. It is often used as a pH adjuster, a cleaning agent, and a coagulant for water treatment, pulp and paper production, food processing, metalworking, and oil refining.

When rubber is exposed to Sodium Hydroxide Pellets, it can suffer from a number of failure types. The most common are an increase in brittleness, cracking, and a loss of elasticity. Additionally, the surface of the rubber can become pitted and corroded, leading to further deterioration of the material over time. The rate of corrosion is often accelerated depending on the concentration of the solution and the temperature of the environment.
