MANDELIC ACID Resistant O-Rings and Seals

Mandelic acid, also known as ?-hydroxybenzeneacetic acid, is an aromatic alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from benzoic acid. It is used in the production of dyes, perfumes, and pharmaceuticals, as well as a skin-care ingredient in cosmetics and skincare products.

Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to mandelic acid include cracking, embrittlement, swelling, and discoloration. Mandelic acid can cause rubber to swell, leading to softening and other deformations. Additionally, mandelic acid can cause rubber to become brittle, leading to a decrease in its elasticity and strength. Mandelic acid can also cause rubber to discolor due to its oxidizing properties. Finally, mandelic acid can cause rubber to become more susceptible to other environmental factors, such as ozone and ultraviolet radiation, resulting in accelerated aging.

Fluorosilicone (FVMQ, FSIL)

Fluorosilicone o-rings are a hybrid of silicone and FKM resulting in great jet fuel resistance with high and low temperature performance. Also widely used in semiconductor Ashing equipment with strong resistance to oxygen plasma, FVMQ fluorosilicone o-rings also feature excellent flexibility, compression resistance, aging and sunlight resistance, and overall wide range of basic chemical resistance.
