Diethanolamine, also known as DEA, is a chemical compound used in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and detergents. Common uses of diethanolamine include the production of polyurethane foam, the manufacture of emulsifiers, and the formulation of detergents.
When rubber components are exposed to diethanolamine, swelling and softening of the rubber can occur. This can lead to a decrease in strength, durability, and performance of the rubber seal. Additionally, the rubber can become more susceptible to cracking and tearing, leading to a decrease in sealing capabilities. Over time, the rubber can also break down due to the presence of diethanolamine, resulting in a decrease in reliability.
