COPPER CHLORIDE Resistant O-Rings and Seals

Copper Chloride is also known as cupric chloride and is commonly used in industrial processes such as electroplating, metal surface treatment, and water treatment. It is also used as a catalyst in the production of polymers, such as polyethylene and polypropylene.

When rubber is exposed to copper chloride, there are several common types of failure that can occur. These include chemical degradation, swelling, and embrittlement. Chemical degradation is caused by the copper chloride breaking down the rubber material, leading to cracking, discoloration, and loss of elasticity or strength. Swelling of the rubber material is caused by the copper chloride molecules absorbing into the rubber, resulting in an increase in size and a decrease in physical properties. Embrittlement is caused by the copper chloride molecules forming an insoluble layer on the surface of the rubber, leading to a decrease in flexibility and strength.
