Recently, a medical laser equipment manufacturing company approached Marco Rubber &amp; Plastics looking for a high-temperature o-ring seal solution.<\/p>\n<h3>Application Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>The company specified that the material would need to meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The material of the seal should be able to withstand high temperature<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The seal material must not absorb laser energy<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The material must not heat up when exposed to laser energy<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The seal must provide excellent sealability<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The seal must occupy a small footprint<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The Solution: Providing a Proven High-Temperature O-Ring<\/h2>\n<p>The Marco Rubber &amp; Plastics engineering team recommended an o-ring made with our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/downloads\/Marco-Material-Datasheet-Markez-Z1407.pdf\"><b>Markez Z1407<\/b><\/a> compound \u2014 an unfilled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/markez-o-rings.htm\">perfluoroelastomer (FFKM)<\/a> material designed for high-temperature applications that is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 600\u00b0F (315\u00b0C). Since the material is unfilled and translucent, it does not absorb the laser energy and provides excellent sealability.<\/p>\n<h2>The Result: The Right Material for the Right Performance<\/h2>\n<p>Extensive testing was performed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/high-temperature-seals\">high-temperature o-ring seal<\/a> and material with excellent results.
