The customer required the seal in their application to withstand 600\u00b0 F and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/high-pressure-o-rings.htm\">1,000 PSI<\/a> (pounds per square inch) of hot air under dynamic conditions. However, the typical metal spring energized seal that would be employed in such a scenario is good for only around 500\u00b0 F. This required Marco Rubber to find a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/custom-molded-rubber-products.htm\">custom sealing solution<\/a> that not only addressed the high-temperature issue but also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/cpi.htm\">chemical processing industry (CPI)<\/a> concerns as well to deal with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noshok.com\/support\/support-tools-faq\/application-insights\/the-application-of-diaphragm-seals-chemical-seals-to-aggressive-media\/\">aggressive media<\/a> (in this case hot air) in the environment.<\/p>\n<h2>The Solution<\/h2>\n<p>With extensive experience dealing with high-temperature plastic and elastomeric seals, Marco Rubber\u2019s engineering department went to work designing a custom sealing solution. Marco Rubber settled on a custom design made with a special high-temperature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/teflon-o-rings.htm\"><b>PTFE<\/b> (Polytetrafluoroethylene)<\/a> and high-temperature spring materials capable of withstanding temperatures up to 600\u00b0 F continuously.<\/p>\n<h2>The Result<\/h2>\n<p>The custom-designed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marcorubber.com\/high-temperature-seals\">high-temperature seal<\/a> was tested against a regular spring energized PTFE seal.
