FFKM vs FKM (Viton®) for O-Rings and Seals

FFKM Perfluoroelastomer

FKM (Viton®)

Description
Both materials are well suited for use in the -15 to 205°C range. FKM has an advantage in lower temperatures and FFKM has an advantage in higher temperatures. Marco offers specific compound formulations extending these ranges even futher as can be seen in the following compound comparison chart. When comparing these materials with respect to electrical current resistance, FFKM has a slight advantage. The differences in compression set resistence show that FKM has a slight advantage. Additionally, FKM has a slight advantage when considering wear resistance. Also, both materials are equally poor when comparing heat stability. Furthermore, FFKM has a slight advantage when comparing short term resilience. Finally, FKM has a slight advantage when evaluating differences in permeation resilience. Both materials are resistant to steam, ozone, solvents, broad spectrum chemical resistance, aliphatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons and aging, with FFKM having specific resistences to weathering and sunlight, water, ketones, esters, ethers, almost universal chemical resistance, extreme high temperatures, inorganic acids and organic acids. FKM has specific resistence to compression set, common fuels, mineral oils, vegetable oils, greases, aromatic hydrocarbons, non-flammable hydraulic fluids, silicone oils, strong acids, petroleum oils, brake fluids, acetone, halogenated hydrocarbons, di-ester lubricants, vacuum and most acids.
